I agree with that generalization exactly. Really though, the time/savings debate is not very important to me when it gets right down to it. Same situation landed in my lap when I bought my latest lathe. Started thinking I needed to do a bunch of best price hunting, eneded up paying $3100 for a model that I probably could've found in 6 months a grand cheaper. In that 6 months I had made enough income on the lathe to pay for the whole $3100. Just doesn't benefit to try too awful hard to save bucks. If the deal lands in your lap, it pays.
