The new combination gear/hydraulic oils are made to be dual purpose and will probably be just fine. Have beeen useing this in the transmission of a AC C for a couple of years now. This is also the hydraulic reservoir. You can still easily get gear oil though and as this isn't a hydraulic system it will also be just fine.
