without a doubt the most unreliable & most expensive item on that series of tractor is the hi-lo shift system, whom ever designed that piece of juck should be fired. also, the first thing i would do after buying any tractor is to check the crankshaft & bearings, a few hundred dollars goes a long way to saving several thousand, or even junking the tractor all together. be sure to check the main front support housing that the axle pivots on since if the tractor has ever had a loader on it, they were also know to crack or break with heavy use, all in all they are a good little tractor, just every model or make of tractor has certain weak areas
