Glow Plug/What the heck.

Am new to diesels. Just bought a used bobcat, smaller 743. I follow the instructions, turn key for 60 sec, turn key back the other way to start, 20 deg. No go. I would think that a glow plug looks like all other glow plugs but don't know. I've read the archives about how to check them but I don't know a glow plug from a winning lottery number. I really would like to get this machine out of my garage. What am I looking for. Thanks. Craig in Wis.
