I think you will do OK if, right up front, you say you are painting to protect the metal and not for aesthetics. Once someone thinks that they are going to see their face in the rust-pitted hood of a fifty year old tractor once it is painted, you are in trouble. (And, please, properly mask off tires -- I just hate to see overspray on tires.)
