I spent 25 years driving four M Farmalls, none ever had fenders. Its just something you learn, hang onto the steering wheel, don't touch the tire. Never fell off, never turned over a tractor. Having used lots of tractors with chains and in mud, never did see any protection from fenders anyhow. However in Colorado, did find the advantage of tractor fenders, kept your body from being sandblasted by the wind whipped sand off the tire.
