Jay, I can only tell you what I liked. I have a Daisy 880 that they"ve made for many years. I got it when I was probably about 10 or 12 and shot the heck out of it until I was probably 14 or 15 when I got a .22. I hadn"t really even looked at it until I got back from college 5 years ago and thought I"d dust it off. (It was up in the loft of the shed where I"d left it years earlier with dust all over it.) Anyway, put a pellet in it and gave it a few pumps and it shot as well as it did 10 years earlier. I still use it now to shoot mice in the shop. IMHO, I would start them out w/ an air rifle over a .22, even with shorts, b/c 1. the ammo is a heck of a lot cheaper, (shoots pellets or bb"s), 2. the gun itself is cheaper, 3. it"s powerful enough to kill any small bird/rodent, or just plink at targets, also you can control how much power it has by the number of pumps. 4. They"re a LOT quieter than a .22, the Mrs. will appreciate that! I will agree that the plastic stock isn"t pretty to look at, but it holds up very well. It even has rails for a cheap air rifle scope. Just my 2 cents worth. Here"s a link.

This same package applies to any hydraulic system from the largest bulldozer to the oldest and smallest tractor. This short series will take a look at the basic layout of a simple hydraul
