The Cummins doesn't perform as well as the 6.0 Ford in acceleration and also on the paper. Also, the cummins in the new dodges are made mainly as an on-road engine, not an industrial engine like the old 12 valve, which were a great engine, much better than the 24 valve. The new '05 powerstrokes are much improved over the 04 powerstrokes. The 03 powerstrokes were actually better than the 04 because they used a different style injection. 6 in a row is not always going to be better. A lot will say they are cheaper to overhaul because they have 2 less holes, but they have a longer crankshaft that will cost more to machine and repair when overhauled. The chevy duramax diesels are not the best engine in the truck world right now. I have heard reports of problems with the aluminum heads on those diesels. Chevy is the only company who uses aluminum on their diesel motor. Honestly, that would scare me off, but that is just my opinion. I would go with the truck that will fit your needs the best. Most likely you are not going to go wrong with either. Just don't put a chip on either one. Also, if you can wait a year, Ford may have out the 6.4??? I haven't seen anything official, but who knows? Just don't put a chip in any of those trucks for power. People wonder why they don't last and they chip them and use cheap parts for service. Ford is picky on oil because of the injection system, and that is where a lot of problems come from because people don't use approved oil. Good luck
