Thats exactly what came into my mind when I read your post. We had a service call on the same thing yesterday.
Warm her up good and see if the rod comes loose. If that works, lift the pipe, Do you have a tractor with a loader?, and check your vent.
If that don't do the job, Take a handfull of asprin, and call me.
