2N Tractor ignition

Can anyone tell me what makes the condensor in the distributor go bad? I put a new set of points and condenser in last winter when it stopped running while pushing snow. It ran fine all summer working the garden and things, but about two weeks ago iot quit again. The consdenser was bad again. Any ideas? Thanks, Alan
