Dempster Windmill: to restore or not to restore

After several months of searching, I've finally located and purchased an original and complete 35ft windmill for my yard. It's extremely rusty looking but it's all there! One side of me wants to make it look like it did when it was built in the '40's but some say to keep it original. Any suggestions or tips on restoring would be appreciated. Hope everyone has a safe and prosperous '07.
