Hey every one need some help! I have a 1995 Dodge ram 1500 4x4. The front axle I have replaced the front vacuum shifter motor. The lines connecting to the shifter motor have good vacuum they will stick to your finger. When the motor is off the axle you can see it shift and the light comes on indicating 4wd. The transfer case locks in 4hi and 4lo when the truck is up on jack stands the front wheels locked when placing it in 4 wheel. The front axle is good on the inside even when the truck is on the ground you can take one finger and slide the gear into place with no resistance at all. I have tried switching the lines(vacuum)and when going down the road the light for 4wd will come on and go off like when going down a hill before switching THE LINES. Would like to have it fixed for snow don"t want to get trapped at work, home would be fine but not work. Would have a local mech. look at it but it"s hard to find one you can trust or afford around here have had several bad dealings not with this truck but others. I was thinking about getting the posi-lok to fix this but would like to keep it stock and was worried if they work with the indicating light. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
