Dock in Britain are tall-ish plants that have narrow leaves and generally occur in pasture and /or wetter areas. The burdock is a separate plant. I"ve seen them in Canada, but only in river meadows and the like. The only thing they are good for really is if you sting yourself on a nettle, rubbing the dock leaves on the affected area help relieve the itch... allegedly...
