With any set you have to check the ring gap for each cylinder...that is start at the front of engine put the ring set in the sleeve check it, then adjust the gap if needed then that ring set is used only for that cylinder, then go to the next cylinder and pick another ring set and match that set.....so on and so forth. hence you end up with a matched set for each cylinder. same thing for the pistons, you need to check them also...hence again you end up with a piston, ring and cylinder that has the perfect tolerances....each one...I'm not an expert but thats how I understand it.
