The Trucker strike thread got me thinking about serious flaws I see in our Government set-up. There are so many politicians and so much corporate money, that there is literally nothing an official with a good idea can do. It takes years to pass watered down legislation. If good ideas make it to law, the effectiveness gets lost in all the bureaucracy of carrying out the intent.
There is relatively little that the politicians can do to "take ownership" and enact major positive changes. Non-elected major Corporate Executives can essentially run the US and change things overnight. Our daily lives are more directly ruled by industrial cartels than by democracy.
