I read in the paper that there was this young family, 2 kids, both work for the government, that is having a hard time on making $120,000/ year. They have house payments , student loans, credit cards and car loans. Don't know if they can start saving for kids college fund and want to both retire at 55 (at 1/2 pay for pension + SS). One will be getting a $4,000 raise and they hope to put in a $4,000 patio. They don't know if they can, but they might have to cut back spending on cloths, eating out, vacations. And I thought I was having a bad day.
