My bad. I always assumed the little thingies on the lift arms that try to snap your fingers off when you close them were the "snap couplers". Seemed like an appropriate name, as you try to stop the bleeding.
Only thing in your answer that I would take issue with is your statement that "3ph systems do sense pull on the arms." Some do (Oliver 4 digits, for instance, and many later tractors,) but many sense draft from the top link (All the Fords, IH, 550 Oliver, Ferguson, etc. etc.).
