Works better on turbo engine. They have more airflow than natural aspirated engines. Adding LP vapour to a diesel can easily make the combustion chamber mixture too rich. The LP vapour displaces some air that would otherwise enter the combustion chamber and support combustion. Co-gneration and peak power diesel gen sets are often set up to burn LP or natural gas. The engines are either carbureted or set up with port injection of gas. A full but slightly lean mix of air/LP or natural is drawn into the combustion chamber. Then lit when the fuel injector sprays as small amount of "pilot" fuel. Generally fuel costs, emissions and engine wear are reduced The engines retain their ability to run on 100% diesel too.
