Yes. The chain should be just slightly snug with the door closed and the chamber empty. If it is loose and flopping you will need to remove a bar and links. I think too there is a stop bolt on the pivot arm, one on each side. If there is any adjustment left there that might fix it without removing a bar. Be carefull and make sure you have the chain secured. It is heavy and if it starts to unroll you can't hold it.
