I started my 766 diesel Saturday morning while it was still very cool out and did not have any steering and when put into gear it just sat there. I then shutoff and checked the hydraulic fluid level and it registered at the full line. Having heard before to overfill the hydraulics I added a couple of gallons of hytran and started the tractor and let fast idle for a few minutes and regained both the steering and the gears engaged. Am I on the verge of needing a major hydraulic pump job or is this something I can attempt to work on myself. Is it ok and how much can you overfill the hydraulics to compensate for a problem. I am of average mechanical ability but have never attempted to tackle anything hydraulic before. Please let me know what you think is my next steps. Thanks very much for any help.
