I've got two gas engine IH tractors that have oddball British Zenith carburetors. British Zenith has nothing to do with Zenith carbs in the USA. It became Solex, and then what, I don't know. Parts are expensive and hard to find. So, I'm wondering about swapping in a US built carb. Anybody done it on any of these IH tractors?
Carb is downdraft, i.e. it mounts up high on top of the intake manifold. My IH B-414 ag tractor as well as my IH 3414 backhoe-loader have it. BC144 gas engine. Zenith VN carb. They sell new retrofit replacements on this site - but they cost a fortune. Seems any US downdraft from a 144 c.i. or close sized engine might work?
