Perhaps they have changed their policy, but UPS will not allow snow tires in our loction. What a bunch of jerks, making the drivers go in and out of farm lanes without snow tires.
A friend used to, and maybe still does drive from Dubuque Ia to Des Moines every eve. In 1984 he told me what he made for wages I still am in shock to this day.
He drove semi with a pup. He drove only, no washing truck, he was forced to take scheduled breaks, and check trailer air hoses before taking off. He never had to dolly a trailer or anything. But he had to keep a clean nose at all times with his driving record.
He remarked that him and the wife had no excuse (she worked a good job as well) not to put at least $100.00 per month away in savings. This was again 1984. There was no reason he could not have put all his wifes wages, and half of his away.
