Mike, I've got one that just got hit. It fried the modem connection in the protector, but the computer didn't suffer any damage, modem is fine. Here's the good part. It only cost $20 and they replaced it free of charge where I bought it. It's an RCA brand. The girl where I bought it said so far it is performing just as well as the more expensive models.
