This has become a problem for old engines requiring extreme pressure additives. Specifically the flat tappet engines. The latest formulation API CJ-4 diesel lubes have dropped below the recommended additive levels of 1200 - 1400 ppm zinc & phosphate referred to as ZDDP. The new spec is "not more than 1000 ppm" so it is time to look at specialty lubes or replacement additives to maintain the required levels. Doesn't matter which brand, it's the API specs that count. If you can obtain the previous API CI-4 spec oils they will have the 1200+ppm correct quantities.
