First Time Buyer Needs Advice!

Hello all, what a great relief to find this web page. Here is my situation. I just have purchased 80 acres of land. It was logged about 2 yrs ago. I will get a backhoe in to remove stumps in spring. I DO plan to hay it evenmtually. The land has a moderate slope about 5 - 15 degrees in spots, alomst terraced. My driveway is about a quarter mile long. Winter is appraoching FAST and I need a plow of some sort, but I will need a tractor eventually too. An honest fellow I know has a Case 500 diesel (mid 1950's) not too sure of the excat year. Also he has a Shultz snowblower that could be mounted on the front and driven by chain from the PTO? I was thinking about making some hydraulic mounts for it? How big a job am I in for ?? The tractor in question has never been worked hard, stored undercover, and has 90% rear tread left. No chains though. He is asking 3700.00 Canadian for this tractor and snowblower. The snowblower would fit into my situation perfectly, but I have to be honest folks, I am very new to tractors and farming. I am very mechanically adept with diesels and the like for a start. I was told by another good friend though that I would be wasting my time with an old tractor and should just save up and buy a used 4WD with power in the 60 - 80 HP range, based on what I told him my future plans were of the acreage. Questions:
1) Could I still buy parts for this tractor?
2) No 3 pt hitch, can I fabricate or buy something to enable 3 pt hookups for implements?
3) Is it worth the money he is asking, assuming it is good running shape (it does run, but I havent seen it).
4) Would this be a practical first purchase in my situation?
5) What trouble should I look for if any, specific to this model of tractor?
6) Should I just buy a plow for my pickup and save money for newer tractor? Soory for the long message, but I would be greatly appreciative of your replys as I am alomst desperate! The first snow stuck on the ground here today (2" but its coming)! reagrds,
