Today while stopped to reposition the discbine for a new field (nose down on a small hill)I lost all the hyd, even the steering. Checked hyd fluid, just a touch low but still on the stick. Got a ride home and got more fluid, added another gallon and still no hyd. Decided to drop discbine and take tractor home to investigate. After backing up 20ft or so steering comes back and all is well. Mowed the field without issue and drove home.
Is this normal? Ive noticed with the 542 loader on and a FULL bucket, sometimes after stopping to dump a load or reload, the steering sometimes drops out and then comes back after traveling several yards. Kind of like the pump is driven by the drive axle.
Any ideas guys? This is the only tractor we have and need to have it running reliably. If something is wrong I want to fix it NOW before it gets more $$$$$.
