Wife and I recently took a trip to Indiana and Fair Oaks Farms . What an operation, they milk over 30,000 head three times a day and produce over 40 semi tanker loads a day. They have 10 separate herds of over 3000 head each and each herd has it's own revolving milking parlor milking 72 cows at a time. They milk for 7 hrs then clean for an hr. then milk for another hr. then clean for an hour non stop year round. An average of 80 calves are born each day. Takes around 19,000 acers to provide the feed for the herd. Some serious management going on.
