John, Those 1710 offset tractor bring good money if in reasonable shape. I don"t know what JM was looking at for $1200 but I found three for sale. The average price was around $9800. They are popular around produce areas plus some tobacco areas. I have not seen a planter for them but maybe someone made one. They where only made two years: 1985 and 1986. They where made by Shibaura(Japan) for Ford. Parts are not hard to get as Ford still services them. My BIL has two that he uses. He likes them better than his IH 140 because of the 1710s being diesel. He had a JD 900HC too but sold it for big money and bought the second Ford.
