A friend of mine has a "95 Grand Prix, 3.1L. It has a slow coolant leak that I haven"t been able to locate. I called local auto parts about coolant leak tracer. He can get it, but only in a 6-pack and does not know if it is readily visible or if you need a special light to see it. Does anyone know of an off-the-shelf leak detector?
Also, I recall hearing some reference to the intake manifold on this engine. Something about it being plastic and can crack? Kit to replace is $140? Is anyone familiar with this, maybe can tell me the symptoms of the problem? Or if I am thinking of another engine that has this issue?
The car runs great, just have to cure the coolant leak/overheating problem. It"s a rather slow leak; she drives a lot, only loses about a quart or so every hundred miles.
