I worked maintenance at a hot dip galvanizing plant for about a year and part of that was was repairing the jigs they used to dip the parts in the zinc. The only rod we ever used was 6011 mainly because it was the only rod with a forcefull enough arc to burn through the zinc and give a peetrating weld that would actually hold. That said if you grind off the galvanizing before you do the welding, and since you should at least bevel the ends much of the zinc in the weld area is already gonna be gone, you can then use a 7018 for the weld. That would be your best bet, especially if your wanting a leak free joint. A 6011 burning through the zinc will usually leave a porous weld that may hold the 'weight' of the joint but will most likely leak under pressure.
