For a while, the wife has wanted a German Shepherd. We found a training facility we like. She has insisted on it being trained.
Anyway, we would like one with European bloodlines, and one that comes from parents that have the Orthopedic Foundation ratings so we can minimize hip problems.
Two weeks ago I was away from home for 3 days. During that time she was help hostage in our house by a pair of stray coon dogs. We finally found the owners of the coon dogs, they had been on the lam for two weeks and were getting desperate for food.
This incident made up her mind on getting a dog.
Anybody had experiences with German shepherds, or other trained guard/protection/companion dogs?
