The voltage doesn't "jump from the primary winding to the secondary winding.It is induced(absorbed) by the secondary winding.The magnetic field (present around any wire,when current is flowing can be absorbed by another wire(induced). The now high voltage is stored in the capacitor until the points close(touch)then the voltage is transmitted via the coil wire (the big fat one in the center of the coil to the rotor then to the terminal in the cap to the respective plug.Then it "jumps"the gap in the plug.
