BS! there is no sensor that detects dyed fuel in new GM's or and truck. The only issues with running dyed fuel is the IRS and tax evasion and the hefty fines if caught and higher sulfer levels that will plug your DPF! Allan you should be carefull about running non ULSD "Ultra Low Sulfer Diesel" in your new truck. The higher sulfer content in non ULSD will plug your DPF "diesel particulate filter" over time. Those suckers cost a couple grand and would not be covered by warranty if plugged by sulfer. BTW my 08 Duramax/Allison has been averaging 20MPG empty on winter fuel and pulling a load like you did would average 16MPG. Only thing is my Duramax does not like to cruise at 75 MPH. Best milage is about 65MPH when I hit 70 MPH milage drops about 5MPG.
