Just trying to figure out what options the buyer has. I think his intentions are to run the PTO at 1000 rpm. He told me that he has $10,000 worth of chrome on the tractor and wants to take it to fairs to run threshers and the like
IH has several spacers to move the right-angle gearbox away from the tractor. I am checking into availability on those. With a spacer, he could insert a Hub City spline adaptor and be all set. Even if they are not available, the spacer could be fabricated by a machinist.
Another option might be to get a PTO shaft that is machined for the 1000 PTO inside the tractor but has 540 splines. Of course, that would be a dangerous item and may not be available anywhere.
Without a 1468 parts book, I am not really sure how it is set up. I may have to goto the Case/IH online parts book.
Meanwhile, I am hoping someone can tell me what it would take to get this 1468 PTO to accept the right-angle box that has been fitted with 540 female splines.
It may come to pass that no adaptation will work as my gearbox may have a ratio that is too fast to run on a big tractor PTO. I'll be checking into that.
